SAFETY
TL Wallace considers safety a core value we continually support with actions, not just words. It’s our goal to minimize the human and financial costs associated with construction site accidents.
To that end, we have a proactive safety program with features that require participation from both management and labor. Currently, many of our personnel (including over 30 managers) hold advanced certifications, including:
-
OSHA 30.
-
NCCCO Crane Operations.
-
First Aid/CPR Training.
-
Fall Protection Competent Person Training.
-
ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor.
-
HAZWOPER 40 hour.
-
Stormwater Management Training.
We also offer operators and entry level personnel basic safety training certifications, including:
-
Flagging.
-
Crane Signaler.
-
Forklift Operation.
-
OSHA 10.
A number of these certifications, including NCCCO Crane Operations, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection Competent Person Training and Flagging, are offered to our employees in-house, and we hope to offer OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 in the near future.
We also promote continuous safety training and monitoring as a part of our ongoing operations:
We also offer operators and entry level personnel basic safety training certifications, including:
-
Weekly safety meetings for all TL Wallace crews, along with safety audits performed at each project site at least once a quarter.
-
Our own safety incentive program known as Safety Bucks that rewards crews with financial bonuses based on their collective driving or work safety.
-
A strong, zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
As a result we’re currently maintaining a 0.64 Experience Modification Rating (EMR), well under the threshold requirements for the oil and gas industry. We also have a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 3.02, better than the heavy civil industry average. And we’re not satisfied: we continue to work toward even better performance ratings.
We understand the critical importance of worksite safety, not only for our workers but also for our customers and sub-contractors. Safety and accident prevention will continue to be a top priority for every single member of TL Wallace.
